The section for the endocrine system was founded in 1965.In 1980, the department of endocrinology was setup. Mr. Liu ChuanDi, the famous endocrinologist, was the first leadership of the department. At the same time, the lab of endocrinology was established, which undertook the tasks of over 20 special items of inspection and examination. The scale and professional technology of department of endocrinology ranks in the forefront of municipal hospitals. At present, Dr. Wang Li, who is a master tutor, takes the lead for the department. Totally there are 25 medical staff in the department of endocrinology. It reports about 200,000 outpatient visits per year. It offers 29 sickbeds and discharges 105 patients on monthly average. The department consists of three specialties: endocrinology, osteoporosis, and obesity. Diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, thyroid disease, pituitary disease, adrenal gland disease and hypokalemia have reached the domestic first-class level. The department is equipped with an international advanced bone density testing laboratory, which can accurately diagnose and provide timely and effective treatment for elderly patients with osteoporosis.
