The Nutrition Department of Xuanwu Hospital has been founded in 1958. It has been responsible for nutrition consultations, supervision of the therapeutic diet and intestinal nutrition, for inpatients and out-patient. It also takes the education work of the Clinical Nutrition for Capital Medical University and the community.

There are associate chief physician in the Nutrition Department, one attending physician, and five residents, including one doctor and six masters. The treatment mainly involved in such diseases like malnutrition, diabetes, gestational diabetes, kidney disease, gout, obesity, cardiovascular disease, hyperlipidemia, nutritional anemia. It also in cooperated with the clinical department in the ketogenic diet for refractory epilepsy, gestational diabetes nutrition management and chronic disease management. At the same time, it also provides nutritional advice and guidance for special groups such as infants and young children, school-age children, adolescents, pregnant women and elderly people.

At present, the nutrition Department of our hospital has carried out special outpatient nutrition clinics including gestational diabetes, chronic disease, elderly malnutrition, and obesity.
