The Neurology Institute of Capital Medical University was established in 2004, and Professor Jianping Jia is the director. Since its establishment, the institute has gathered a large number of domestic and foreign well-known neurologists and young and middle-aged backbones. It strengthens outside academic exchanges and connections with research units of various medical colleges and universities, and connects inside with the neurology departments of the affiliated hospitals of Capital Medical University. The institute develops overall advantages, carries out basic and clinical research, improves clinical diagnostic and treatment level, and provides patients with high-quality services. So far, it has become a nationally recognized center for basic research and clinical diagnosis and treatment of nervous system diseases.

The Institute has 13 clinical and research centers, including the Dementia Research Center, Cerebrovascular Disease Research Center, Severe Neurological Disease Monitoring and Treatment Research Center, Neurology Consultation Center, Peripheral neuropathy and Myopathy Research Center, Neural Stem Cell Therapy Research Center, Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment Research Center, Epilepsy and Sleep Disorders Research Center, Neuroelectrophysiology Research Center, Parkinson's Disease Research Center, Neurology Experiment Center, Neurovirology Research Center, and Ministry of Health Refresher Physician Training Center.

As the initiator and location of the Neurology Institute, the Department of Neurology at Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University has more than 270 clinical staff and researchers, and nearly 200 beds. The daily outpatient volume is more than 2,000. It is one of the earliest and largest neurology departments in China. All of the above guarantee the diversity of clinical diseases and provide numerous research resources.
