Xuan Wu Hospital formally established Department of Biobank in 2015, which is responsible for collecting, preserving and utilizing clinical materials in XuanWu hospital. The area of Biobank is about 200 square meters, with dual power supply, hot air exhaust system, providing super condition to preserve bio-samples. A variety of frozen containers are in operation, including liquid nitrogen devices, -152 degree of deep low temperature refrigerators and -80 degrees low temperature refrigerators. In order to promote the translational research relying on the Biobank, an advanced affiliated molecular biology laboratory was also established, a variety of platforms were set up, including next generation sequencing, bio-chips, pyrosequencing, real-time quantitative PCR and etc.

Our Biobank is one of the 15 Biobanks supported by Beijing Science and Technology Commission, takes part in all kinds of actions organized by Beijing Bank of Clinical Resources. In the last few years, our department of Biobank cooperated with quite a few clinical departments supporting a plenty of clinical studies of Xuanwu hospital.
