The Department of Urology was isolated from the cardiovascular thoracic and urologic department in 1977, and built ward in 1983. The directors of the department were professor Dong Zongjun and Sun Yucheng successively, Luo Weiyuan, Ding Qian, Li Shihua, Wang Zubin and Wang Jian were the famous experts in history. Now, we have 13 doctors, 15 nurses and 30 ward beds. Professor Ou Tongwen is the current director, with experts such as Xu Jianjun, Li Jin, Cui Xin, Chen Xiaosong, Gao Wei. It is the master, doctor and postdoctoral training unit of Urology for Capital Medical University.

Except the Outpatient of Urology, we also have specialized outpatients, including urologic tumors, stones, neurogenic bladder, urinary continence and andrology. Each year, we have more than 40 thousand outpatient visitors, more than 2300 hospitalized patients, and more than 2200 operations. For equipments, we have laparoscope, flexible ureteroscope, rigid ureteroscope, percutaneous nephroscope, intraoperative ultrasound, 120W thulium laser and holmium laser. For tumors, laparoscopic surgery was extensively adept in kidney, bladder, prostate and ureter carcinoma and 131I implantation was performed in prostate cancer. For Stones, we have comprehensive treatments, including extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy or percutaneous nephrolithotomy with laser lithotripsy. For neurogenic bladder, we perform botulinum toxin bladder wall injection, sacral neuromodulation and intestinal bladder enlargement. We also perform laser treatment for prostatic hyperplasia and bladder tumor, TVT-O for stress urinary incontinence. Now, our department is famous in the fields of urinary tumors, stones and neurogenic bladder. We also have three centers:

Vedio-Urodynamic Center

We have a doctor and nurse in this center, with a Laborie urodynamic instrument and a SIEMENS X - ray machine in the diagnosis of neurogenic bladder, prostatic hyperplasia, stress incontinence, overactive bladder and urinary retention.

ESWL Center

The center was built in 1997. Now, we have the Semi-Integrated Lithotripter Dornier Delta III extracorporeal lithotripsy and the delta FS-2000 X - ray positioning system, and help more than 1300 patients every year.

Cystoscopy Center

We have a doctor and nurse in this center. This center is responsible for cystoscopic examination, ureteral stent implantation and removal, retrograde urography and other diagnosis and treatment.
